Actor Vikram’s Saamy 2 to roll from June or July
Saamy 2, the ambitious sequel to Saamy starring Vikram and directed by Hari, will begin its shooting from June or July this year. The duo is coming together after a decade.
Vikram is busy juggling between Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram and a yet-untitled action flick with Vijay Chander. There were reports that the shoot of Saamy 2, which reunites Vikram and director Hari after a decade, is likely to be postponed due to the other two projects. However, the film’s producer Shibu Thameens has quashed rumours. “Pre-production work is already underway. We start shooting from June or July. There will be no delay in the commencement of shoot.”
Vikram will return as the hot-headed, foul-mouthed and uptight cop Aarusaamy in the sequel which also stars Trisha Krishnan, and it will be her third collaboration with Vikram as well as Hari. Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to compose the tunes and the makers are finalising the rest of the cast.
It is not sure whether Vikram will retain the same look for the sequel or will undergo a makeover. Speaking at the audio launch of Iru Mugan in 2016, Hari said that he had plans to make Saamy 2 much earlier but things somehow didn’t fall in place. He even said that the sequel will be bigger than the first part both in terms of scale and vision.
