Thala Ajith’s Vivegam, which marks his third successive collaboration with director Siva after Veeram and Vedalam, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of 2017. With over 50% of the shooting already wrapped up, the makers are planning to release the film in August, most likely on the second Thursday of the month.
However, the team hasn’t officially locked the release date yet, leaving the fans in a state of uncertainty.
A source informs HT that the producers are in a state of dilemma as they have two release dates in mind. While the initial plan was to release on August 10, the team also has plans to push the release by two weeks and bring out the film on August 25. Unfortunately, Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran, too, is planning to release on August 25 as their team has locked the date long back. Hence, the release date of Vivegam, which also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Akshara Haasan, remains a mystery.
In the film, Ajith plays an Interpol agent and will be seen taking on Vivek Oberoi, who is being introduced as the antagonist. Having predominantly shot abroad, the makers will return to Bulgaria later this month to shoot the final schedule.
