Comedian Sunil Grover, who walked out The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS) after his much publicised fight with Kapil Sharma, is all set to return to television with a brand new show. And if buzz is t be believed, it will replace Krushna Abhishek’s Drama Company. It comes as a surprise because from the very beginning, Drama Company was to get replaced by reality dance show Super Dancer.

A source close to the production unit tells us, “Drama Company was always supposed to have only 26 episodes and all artists were signed for a limited period only. And on September 30, Super Dancer was to replace it. But since the host channel, Sony Entertainment, has already replaced TKSS with Krushna’s show, they need to bring a new [comedy] show. So, Sunil is working on a show and negotiations are on with the channel. Also, the channel is giving Kapil time to recuperate, considering his health issues, and that’s the reason they are looking at Sunil for a new show.”

When we contacted Sunil for a confirmation, he chose to remain tight-lipped. “Nothing is decided and I can’t comment on anything right now.”

A week back, TKSS was taken off air, owing to Kapil’s poor health and Drama Company filled in for the prime time slot at 9pm and their 8pm slot was set aside for repeat telecast of the TKSS. But now with Drama Company’s contract ending, it looks like Sunil is on his way back, already.

The source also reveals that the channel even explored the option of bringing TKSS back on air. “The channel wanted the original cast to go back to Kapil’s show, and they could have continued with TKSS, only if the entire team agreed upon that. But that’s not happening because the team that is working with Kapil right now is the same team that made Mad In India [Sunil’s previous show], so nobody really agreed,” informs the source.

Buzz is also that Preeti Simoes, creative director of TKSS and the mastermind behind Krushna’s show will collaborate with Sunil for his new comedy show too. Not just this, she is also being credited for bringing Sunil back on small screen.

Meanwhile, a source close to the channel denies any such collaboration. “It’s true that the channel is in talks with Sunil but it’s not yet confirmed as to which show will replace Drama Company. And if Sunil’s show works out, he will not be doing it with Preeti. It is going to be his independent show, as it’s solely his idea and concept and Preeti has nothing to do with the new show. This is so far what the conversation has been. Later on, if she wants to join Sunil, that’s a different thing.”

However, Preeti says though nobody has approached her yet, she won’t mind working with Sunil again. “So far, channel or show makers have not involved us, but if given an option to work with Sunil [on a show]; I would love to because it’s the same team as TKSS and Comedy Nights with Kapil. Anyway, right now I am busy creating our Drama Company episodes, as we are still left with some four of them to shoot.”
