“Standup comedy is a stress buster and it’s a great way to address day to day issues in a fun and humorous way which can’t be done otherwise,” says standup comedian Amit Tandon.

This is exactly what HT City Laughya is all about as it presents a more westernised way of standup comedy, something that you can experience live. “I used to make a comic strip earlier for 15 years. But with time, I realised that standup comedy is a great new modern way to connect with people,” says comedian Rajneesh Kapoor.

Events like these also serve as a platform for city-based comedians to find a niche, and they needn’t go out in search of opportunities. “Good comedians from Delhi were moving to Mumbai, but with an initiative like Laughya, comedians are getting to connect with the Delhi audience,” adds Kapoor.

The experience of performing in front of a live audience is exhilarating, as the comedians get to map the responses and build up on the vibe. Comedian Maheep Singh says, “I was not so familiar with the concept (of standup comedy) till I tried it out and got a superb response. Laughya has been an amazing journey, as it gives the artists a chance to build their audience.” .

The comedians are excited about performing in Delhi as the response they get here is phenomenal. “Laughya is a great way to reach out to all of Delhi NCR with jokes inspired from real-life and day-to-day experiences,” concludes Tandon.
