Asian Games 2018: Anu Raghavan, Jauna Murmu reach final of 400m hurdles
Anu Raghavan and Jauna Murmu booked their spot in 400m hurdles while India defeated Qatar in men’s team archery quarterfinals at Asian Games 2018.
Asian championship silver medallist Anu Raghavan kept herself in race for a maiden Asian Games medal by qualifying for the final of the women’s 400m hurdles final in Jakarta on Sunday.
The 25-year-old from Kerala was third fastest in Heat 2 and also overall third with a timing of 56.77s. Joining her was compatriot Jauna Murmu (59.20s) as the last best loser.
Anu had won a silver at the Asian Championship held in Bhubaneshwar. Bahrain’s Oluwakemi Adekoya was the fastest woman, who clocked 54.87 and was followed by Vietnam’s Quach Thi Lan.
India wins in archery
Defending champions India reached the quarterfinals of the men’s compound team, edging out a fighting Qatar 227-213 in the 1/8 Elimination round.
The team comprising Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini and Rajat Chauhan won all four sets. However, the second and third sets were very close with scores being 65-55 and 56-54.
Abhishek and Chauhan were part of the team that won gold in Incheon four year ago.
