A division bench headed by justice Amreshwar Pratap Sahi asked the poll panel to provide information by December 22.
The court order came on a PIL filed by activist Pratibha Pandey. The PIL had sought directions from the court to the ECI for conducting assembly polls in April-May next year, after the completion of the full tenure of the present assembly.
Petitioner’s lawyer Ashok Pandey said the tenure of the present assembly will end on May 27, 2017.
The counsel for respondents -- Union of India and ECI -- were present at the time of hearing, Pandey said.
