The first rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in this assembly election to muster support for ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) - Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) alliance on January 27 has cost the party Rs 28.75 lakh. The rally was held at the local Punjab Armed Police (PAP) ground.
The expenditure amount has been divided among 15 candidates of coalition government from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Ludhiana districts.
Amount of Rs 1.91 lakh has been added in each of the 15 candidates’ books who were present during the rally.
The candidates include chief minister Parkash Singh Badal who is contesting from Muktsar’s Lambi segment, Mahinder Pal Bhagat from Jalandhar West (reserve), KD Bhandari from Jalandhar North and Manoranjan Kalia from Jalandhar Central.
The other candidates in whose books expenditure has been included are Sarbjeet Makkar from Jalandhar Cantonment, Shahkot constituency’s Ajit Singh Kohar, Pawan Kumar Tinu from Adampur, Phillaur’s Baldev Singh Khaira, Phagwara’s Som Parkash, Tikshan Sud from Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana West’s Kamal Chatly, Ludhiana Central’s Gurdev Sharma Debi, Ludhiana North’s Parveen Bansal, Mukerian nominee Arunesh Kumar and Sukhjeet Kaur from Dasuya assembly segment.
The expenses of flood lights, 10 large size LED screens, 10,000 chairs, 100 mini and 200 normal buses, banners or hoardings, tent and sound system, 35 sports utility vehicle (SUV) cars, water, tea, food packets, fees of Bollywood singers Nooran sisters have been included.

{{/usCountry}}As per the details gathered from sources, Rs 80,000 have been paid for 10,000 chairs, Rs 80,000 for LEDs, three lakh for 100 mini buses, Rs 52,000 for 35 cars and Rs 1.5 lakh has been paid to Nooran Sisters.
The information of expenditure details have also been shared with districts from where the candidates are fighting. Modi had held his second rally in Faridkot’s Kotkapura town on January 29.
The district electoral office imposed defacement expenditure of Rs 2.26 lakh on various political parties in the fray. Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leads the tally of political parties with the highest expenditure of Rs 1.52 lakh.
