Punjab assembly election results: AAP’s Kejriwal accepts ‘people’s verdict’, says struggle will go on

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal accepted the “people’s verdict” in a tweet on Saturday afternoon as trends became clear that his party had failed to expand its national footprint with poor performances in Punjab and Goa.

Kejriwal had led the Punjab campiagn and earlier declared the party would bag “more than 100” of the 117 seats in the state assembly. “The struggle will go on,” Kejriwal said in his tweet.

The party had decided not to contest the vital state of Uttar Pradesh to be able to focus on the Punjab polls. Party in charge for Punjab, Sanjay Singh also tweeted within minutes of Kejriwal saying the party would analyse the reasons for the loss and congratulated “the new government.”
