After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan too has a word of advice for young Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
"It would be better for him (Rahul) if he heads Tribal Ministry and works for the welfare of people instead of just visiting them," Chouhan, who will become the first non-Congress Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to complete five years in power on Monday (Nov 29), told PTI today.
Chouhan was responding to a question on the advice given by Kumar to Rahul during poll campaigning in Bihar -that instead of lecturing he should become a Chief Minister to gain experience in governance.
"Normally, I don't comment on an individual. But merely visiting a few houses will not serve any purpose. Head the Tribal Welfare Department to ensure the welfare of people. And you can do that as the government is in your hands," the BJP leader said in an apparent reference to Rahul's visits to Dalit localities and tribals.
"Merely saying that there is an India and a Bharat, or a rich India and a poor India, will not serve any purpose. This is a time to act and not just speak."
On the issue of persons rising fast in politics on the basis of their family background, Chouhan said there is no harm in giving chance to such people. But the tradition of giving highest post to a persons just because you are born in a particular family is not a practical proposition.
