A British man died after he fell 30-35 feet from the second-floor of the famous Laxmi temple in Orchha in Madhya Pradesh, while taking selfie on Friday.

Roger James (58) was with his wife Hillary taking photographs at the temple around 4.30 pm when he fell and sustained injuries, Tikamgarh additional SP Rajesh Khaka said.

“Other tourists and officials on duty called an ambulance and he was taken to the Orchha government hospital and from there he was referred to Jhansi, looking at the seriousness of his injuries.

“However, his wife insisted that he be taken to Ram Raja hospital in Orchha, where he died during treatment,” the ASP said.

The body has been sent for autopsy and the UK embassy is being informed, he said.

Orchha in Tikamgarh district, situated around 400 km north of Bhopal, is a well known tourist destination.
