Special Task Force (STF), which is investigating Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, arrested four MPPEB officials afresh in connection with Transport Constable Recruitment scam-2012, on Wednesday.
The officials, including former controller of exams, MPPEB, Pankaj Trivedi and system analysis wing officials Nitin Mahindra, Ajay Sen and CK Mishra are key accused of MPPEB scam.
They were produced in the special court and remanded to STF custody till November 25.
According to sources, during interrogation, the MPPEB officials would be quizzed on alleged involvement of high-profile suspects including a former transport minister, a former transport commissioner and a former deputy transport commissioner. Sources said that several people, including political leaders and government officials, were suspects in the case and their role would be verified from the MPPEB officials during interrogation.
Following more than one year of investigation, the STF had registered a case in transport constable recruitment-2012 scam on November 14. A total of 39 people, most of them candidates, were made accused in the case.
The STF had earlier arrested Abhijeet Pawar who had passed the written exam using unfair means. The written exam was conducted in August 2012 for 332 vacancies and about 56,450 candidates took the exam.
