High-tech radio cabs start plying on Bhopal roads

Urban administration minister Kailash Vijaywargiya will flag off a high-tech radio cab service in Bhopal on Wednesday. At least 100 radio cabs would ply on city roads under the new service.

Urban administration minister Kailash Vijaywargiya will flag off a high-tech radio cab service at Jawahar Chowk in Bhopal on Wednesday.

Devinder Tiwari, the additional chief executive officer (CEO) of Bhopal City Link Limited, said 100 radio cabs would ply on Bhopal roads under the new service.

The services will be operated and managed by a private operator on a monthly premium basis of Rs 2,000 per radio cab per month payable to the BCLL, Tiwari added.

The air conditioned radio cab (Swift Dzire) will cost Rs 50 for the first two kms and subsequently Rs 23 per km. The contract would be for a period of five years after which the contracts have to be renewed with a new a fleet of cabs.
