The girl, from the Rehli area in Sagar district, said she was in an advanced stage of pregnancy when she was abandoned.
“They called my parents and sent me home. Finally on August 30, I delivered a baby at the local health centre,” police quoted her as saying.
The girl has said she was raped before the marriage, which is why she was pregnant.
In her statement to the police, the girl said her family members were employed as labourers at a village near their house. She said their employer’s son raped her multiple times between November and December 2015. After her employer found out she was pregnant, he forced her father to get her married off.
Sagar SP Sachin Atulkar confirmed that the minor has filed a complaint. “I have ordered the Rehli police station to lodge an FIR under Section 375 of the SC and ST Act and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against the man accused of raping her and have instructed them to investigate the case,” he said.
