The police are also probing the role of an agent, who is the wife of one of the accused.

According to reports, the police received a complaint from four account holders that the money that they had deposited was not there in their respective accounts.

They asked post office officials about it, to which they were told that the money had been already withdrawn from their accounts.

The four victims then lodged a complaint against post master Shivanand (50) and Sanjay Vishwakarma (32), who handled their money and account on behalf of the post-office.

Poice founda that Sanjay’s wife, Rekha Vishwakarma (28) was enrolled as the agent to handle the accounts.

“We are now searching for Rekha, who is absconding,” said town inspector SP Shukla.
