Sudden heavy showers on Sunday afternoon caught citizens by surprise, as on most other times of the day weather. After the rain, the winds turned cool and set the mood for people to come out and enjoy the evening. The major picnic spots of the city witnessed a great rush as the skies remained partially cloudy and weather balmy.

However, the afternoon showers were so sudden and heavy that many citizens who were out on the roads were drenched without getting any time to look for shelter. Bhopal city experienced 8.0 mm of rainfall in the duration. No rainfall was recorded in Bairagarh area.

Till now, Bhopal has received 1116.2 mm of rainfall, which is 143.8 mm more than expected till this time of the season. The district has already exceeded the total rainfall quota for the season, which is 1086.6 mm. Rainfall was also recorded in several parts in east Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur recorded 33.4 mm of rain by 5.30 pm on Sunday.

The Met office has predicted light rainfall or thundershowers in different parts of the state during next 24 hours. However, since a system is brewing over the Bay of Bengal, good rainfall is expected within two days in the state.
