The alacrity of two young boys thwarted the alleged kidnapping of their 3-year-old cousin, in an incident on Sunday afternoon in Bhopal.
The family of Bade Thakur, a resident of Kumharpura, was at a temple nearby when their daughter Pihu went missing. As the parent raised an alarm, Pihu’s cousins said they had seen a woman taking the girl, and chased her.
After a brief chase, the boys – 9-year-old Tilak Jatav and 13-year-old Anurag Singh – caught up with the woman near Airtel Square, around 500mtrs from the temple. They confronted the suspect and Singh managed to free the girl with the help of a couple of traffic constables posted nearby.
The woman was identified as Kusum Nayak, a resident of Sarswati Nagar. She claimed she was passing through the temple and spotted the child crying and decided to take her to safety.
