Actor Aarti Chhabria, who will next be seen in a dance reality show, says she wants to direct a film. “I have always been interested in going to a film school and getting exposed to the world of filmmaking. The idea of getting hands-on experience of being behind the camera was very exciting. Also, the course on filmmaking is important from an actors’ point of view as it helps enhance your performance,” says Aarti.

At NYFA, Aarti learned about lights, sound, editing, directing, acting and other aspects of filmmaking. “Now that I have learned it all, I’d love to explore being behind the camera. But presently my focus is on acting,” says Aarti, who has appeared in films such as Awara Pagal Deewana and Shootout at Lokhandwala among others. She hopes the dance reality show will help take her love for dance to the next level.

“It’s an opportunity to take my love for dancing ahead and learn new dance forms. I am not looking at competing with anyone. Also by accepting this show on TV does not mean I am shifting from films to TV. I took this show as a challenge,” she says.
