Virat Kohli’s video of wife Anushka Sharma scolding a man for littering on a street may have divided the internet but Bollywood still thinks it deserves praise. Stars like Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, Dia Mirza and more have commented in support of the celebrity couple on social media.

Ranveer called Anushka a ‘legend’ in a comment on the video posted by Virat on Instagram. Karan tweeted, “This is the order of the day! Well done @anushkasharma.”

Dia, singer Badshah used emojis to show appreciation and actor Suniel Shetty wrote ‘way to go,’ in the comments. Even English cricketer Kevin Pietersen commented, “BOOM. Outstanding. That’s how to be a role model. Well done you two.”

Union minister Kiren Rijiju also tweeted in support of Virat and Anushka. “C’mon, Virat & Anushka need publicity!! They would rather crave for privacy!! Our conduct reflects our mentality. Civic sense is social ethics and ethical behaviour doesn’t come with wealth & education. Let’s keep India clean,” said Rijiju.

In the video, Anushka pulls up a man, who later identified himself as Arhhan Singh on social media, for littering on the road. In the 17-second clip, she is seen scolding him for throwing plastic on the street. Virat recorded the entire episode and later shared it on Instagram and Twitter.

Virat wrote, “Saw these people throwing garbage on the road & pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same & spread awareness. @AnushkaSharma.”

The man and his mother also retaliated on social media saying that Anushka should have been polite and that the man now faces threat to his life as his face was shown in the video.

People on social media are divided between praising the couple for their good deed and chiding them for sabotaging the man’s privacy. “Why are you recording your wife’s heroics and publishing it in social media??.. is this the first time you saw someone threw a plastic cover from a car?? If your intention was to advice him, first be friendly instead of being bossy.. this kinda attention seeking is so cheap,” a Twitter user wrote. “Absolutely she did the right thing, but what’s the need to show the man’s face, not everyone is used to the attention, and he is the subject for his friends and colleagues to make fun of like ‘ tu to wahi hai jissey anushka ne daata tha’ . There are humble ways to teach,” wrote another.
