Ash unveils new movie at Cannes

First look of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine, apparently based on Marilyn Monroe’s life, revealed at world’s top film market.

at the world’s most anticipated film festival. The star admits she’s “looking forward to this new journey in the movie,” which is a joint production by UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar, based on the life and times of a Bollywood superstar.

“I have just agreed to come on board, but

is a film that the entire team was very excited about,” she says. “In the past too, UTV and I have worked on a special kind of cinema. And to me, the new venture certainly looks like a strong creative synergy.”

Aishwarya also admits that National Award-winning director Madhur has been constantly in touch with her over the years to collaborate on a film. “And I’m glad that we’re finally working together. As an actor, it will be an exciting experience to work with him.”

(2005), Heroine is a voyeuristic look at what really goes on behind the closed doors of actors’ make-up rooms and vanity vans. In fact, Madhur says he has been “subconsciously preparing for it ever since he joined Bollywood.”

Aishwarya will be have a wardrobe of more than 40 outfits designed by Manish Malhotra in the film, which is scheduled to go on the floors in June this year. Apparently, Madhur has reworked the script a bit to suit his lead actor’s new image.

Before Aishwarya agreed to be a

, Madhur went all out to rope in Kareena Kapoor for the role. However, she was reportedly uncomfortable with the intimate sequences in the film, where she would have had to get intimate with five different men. She was also allegedly upset that one of the male characters had two kids, resembling her real life boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, who is a father of two.
