Bollywood heroines go on sick leave

Long schedules and erratic working hours have landed Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Shruti Haasan and Tabu on sick bed. Their troubles range from fever, exhaustion, stomach ache to breathing problems.

They come across as the perfect picture of health and beauty, but our Bollywood divas are known to struggle when it comes to their holistic well-being. Long working hours, irregular schedules, draining promotional activities and an exhausting workload can take a toll on their health. In recent times, everyone from the current favourite Deepika Padukone to the baby-faced Alia Bhatt, has been under the weather. Now, we take a look at recent ailments that forced the leading ladies to take a break from work.

Down with: Fever
Over the last few months, the actor has fallen ill several times. In early February, there were reports that she was down with fever and could work only for a few hours on February 18 for Bang Bang. The next day, the shoot was cancelled to give the actor time to recover. Apparently, she was also sick during her trip to the US (around New Year) and later, travelled to London to spend time with her family.

Down with: Exhaustion
For the past few days, Alia has been busy with the promotions of Highway while finishing work on her upcoming films, 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Naturally, she was left drained. The actor even took to her Twitter account a couple of days ago and shared that she was under the weather. She tweeted: “Sorry guys little unwell.. All the exhaustion catching up! But ur tweets keep me going (sic).”

She was hospitalised on February 22 while shooting for her upcoming film, Haider, in Kashmir. She had complained of breathing difficulties on the sets. The actor, who was apparently nursing a severe cold, had to be admitted to a hospital. After being kept under observation, she was discharged in the evening. Apparently, she had been complaining of some breathing problems after inhaling smoke on the sets.

Down with: Stomach ache
Kamal Haasan’s daughter, who was in Hyderabad shooting for upcoming Telugu film, was admitted to a private hospital after she complained of acute stomach pain on January 5. She was at a promotional event of her film, Yevadu. A day later, she was discharged and wrote on Twitter, “Hello Tweeps. Thank You for all your love and get well soon wishes! Appendix out and raring to go (sic).”

Down with: Fever, exhaustion
The super-busy actor fell ill in mid-February, thanks to an exhausting schedule that had her working for 30 hours straight. After shooting for Farah Khan’s film for 16-odd hours, the actor rushed for a dance rehearsal and performance at an awards function, post which she almost fainted. After resting for a bit, she woke up with a high fever. As a result, she stayed at home and rested the next day.
