Just like life, fashion comes full circle too. Who would have ever thought that the word geek — a tag that once banished people to the far corner of the lunch table — would someday be synonymous with chic and cool.

The Oxford Dictionary considers geek chic as ‘the dress, appearance, and culture associated with computing and technology enthusiasts, regarded as stylish or fashionable’. Fashion insiders dictate that it’s time for backbenchers to embrace their nerdy alter ego and unleash the geek within.

Teaming them with Indian wear is not a no-no either.

Back to school

Take a trip down memory lane to get some inspiration from your school uniform. Try plaid skirts, tartan or checkered pants and crisp shirts layered with a light sweater or blazer.

For a winter-worthy geek-chic look girls can team a shirt, preferably white, with a button-down cardigan and trousers topped off with a satchel and headband. Remember Gossip Girl?

For men, throwing on a tie will do the trick. Opt for denims, a basic shirt and a funky tie or simply throw on a tie-print T-shirt. it up

If you think this style is just for the workplace, think again. Mix it up with trends like bohemian, goth and punk to get it right
