The timely announcement of Newton as India’s official Oscar entry has helped the film at the box office. The film’s business started to pick from Friday afternoon. All the reviews were also out by then and were mostly positive. In fact, Newton is among the best rated films of this year.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted the film’s figures. He says that Newton has shown a growth of 162.5% in collections. So far, Newton has earned Rs 3.48 crore.

Sanjay Dutt-starrer Bhoomi was probably the biggest release this week, but it has failed to find the audiences. The film’s performance at the ticket window is below expectations. Bhoomi has registered a total collection of Rs 4.72 crore in first two days.

Shraddha Kapoor’s Haseena Parkar also hit the theatres this week, but it is lagging far behind, having had a dull Friday. As per boxofficeindia.com, Haseena Parkar gathered Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day.
Surprisingly, the Hollywood release Kingsman The Golden Circle opened better than any of the Hindi films, netting Rs 3.15 crore on its first day. This included the paid preview numbers.

The relative success of Kingsman The Golden Circle on the first day carries forward the trend of well-publicised Hollywood films opening better than Hindi films in India.
This trend will force the Indian filmmakers to go for better content in the coming days.
