It’s hardly surprising to see teeming crowds at film sets, as everyone wants to see actors in their locality. But it can become problematic for the star in question, when the mob breaches security to get close to them.

A similar incident took place at a park near Hotel Taj Lands End on Monday evening where filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar was shooting for his much-talked about film Heroine, with the lead actor Kareena Kapoor.

“We’re used to crowds watching the shoot, but when they start piling up and try to pour into the sets, it becomes scary,” says an insider from the unit.

The alarming crowd was over a thousand in headcount, says the source. “It must have touched 1,500 people, and at one point of time, they started approaching Kareena,” says the source.

There were quite a few police personnel stationed at the set to control a moderate crowd, “But since the numbers kept multiplying, the makers had to call for more security,” reveals the source, adding, “The unruly mob started sneaking into the sets to get close to the star. Additional forces had to be called in to control the situation.”

Eventually, the matter was sorted out peacefully.

Jointly produced by Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV Motion Pictures, Heroine, ironically, is based on the life and times of a superstar actress from the film industry.
