Ekta Kapoor’s mother, Shobha Kapoor, is fond of Student Of The Year (2012; SOTY) star Sidharth Malhotra. And now, we’re told that it was in fact Shobha who saw the potential in the young actor and told Ekta to bring him on board for her next film, The Villain.

“After watching SOTY, Shobha was really impressed. She has been talking about Sidharth and around then, she even asked Ekta to sign him for a film. She often remarks that after Amitabh Bachchan, Sidharth is the one who has the potential to become a big star,” says an insider.

Since his debut last year, Sidharth has already bagged two films — Hasi Toh Phasi opposite Parineeti Chopra and The Villain. He will play the lead role of an action hero in Ekta’s film in an attempt to shed his lover boy image.
