Hrithik Roshan gets notice for hurting sentiments with Pope comment

Hrithik Roshan has got a fresh legal notice and this time it is not from Kangana Ranaut. Instead her lawyer has sent a notice on behalf of another client who says the Bollywood actor hurt religious sentiments with ‘dating the Pope’ tweet.

There is no end to Hrithik Roshan’s troubles. Days after his legal mess with Kangana Ranaut, the actor has received yet another legal notice, and this time it is for hurting the religious sentiments by making “unwarranted” and “inexcusable” comments against the Pope.

Reacting to Kangana Ranaut who had reportedly called him a “silly ex” in an interview, Hrithik had taken to Twitter in January, “Ther r more chances of me having had an affair with d Pope dan any of d (Im sure wonderful) women d media hs been naming,” he had tweeted.

Taking umbrage to his tweet, former vice chairman of the State Minorities Commission Abraham Mathai filed a legal notice under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code. Interestingly, Mathai’s legal notice has been sent by Rizwan Siddique, the lawyer who is also representing Kangana in her legal spat with Hrithik.

Is there a connection there?

Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code states that “Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs – Whoever, with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class of citizens of India, by words, either spoken or written, or by signs or by visible representations or otherwise, insults or attempts to insult the religion or the religious beliefs of that class, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.”

In an interview to Scroll, Mathai said that he has asked for an unconditional apology, “Hrithik Roshan has the right to have a relationship with anyone, but he doesn’t have the right to draw in the Pope. This has unfortunate inferences — it suggests that the Pope is gay. I’ve asked Roshan for an unconditional apology. It hurts the Catholic community for whom the Pope is a revered personality.”

What happened between Hrithik and Kangana

The legal notice that Hrithik sent to Kangana, seeking an apology from her for referring to him as her “silly ex” in an interview, alleges that Hrithik has 1,439 mails from Kangana, most of them “senseless, personal, and absurd.” It even claims that Kangana, who almost stalked him, suffers from Asperger’s which makes her imagine things, for he didn’t respond to even a single one of them.

In response to his legal notice, Kangana had sent a legal notice to him, refusing to apologise. It stated that Hrithik had been communicating with her through a secret email id which proved that Hrithik ‘thoroughly supported” and was “fully involved” with her.
