Kangana Ranaut, who has won the National Award for her performance in Queen (2014), surprisingly says she didn’t "enjoy the moment" as much, due to "irresponsible journalism". A report quoted her as saying she "was supposed to get all the awards" that Priyanka Chopra won for Mary Kom (2014), and that she knew about them beforehand.

The actor immediately tried to make amends by calling Priyanka, who is currently in the US. "She didn’t answer because of the time difference, and I couldn’t sleep all night. When she called back, I explained everything, and she just laughed it off. She’s my friend and knows me better than any journalist," says Kangana, explaining that it takes a "lot of nurturing, care and effort to maintain a healthy equation" in the industry.

Priyanka also clarified her stance, tweeting, "I hate losing. But if I had to take a back seat to anyone this year it would be U #KanganaRanaut! Congratulations! Yay. Queen! #SmallTownGirls (sic)."
