Director Rohit Shetty, after spending a long spell on Comedy Circus, has shifted gears and tonight, will appear on Big Switch on UTV Bindaas as the mentor for a couple of spoilt rich brats who will be taught to live a life bereft of luxuries. He explains that the parents of the contestants have made their secret requests for certain changes in their kids and their lifestyles that can make them better citizens.
“Sometimes, parents, while raising their children, try giving them a lot of freedom. And children in turn take that space for granted. They feel they have a birthright over their luxuries and servants. A lot of parents have told us that they want their kids to understand the true value of money and luxury, and that it doesn’t come easy in life,” says Rohit, who will be supervising the brats all day, whether they are at work or off it.
“We have made plans and will execute them to ensure each parent’s wish is fulfilled, and they find the change in their kids that they’ve been longing for. I can already see a couple of contestants altering their way of thinking.”
His job as a director also demands as much attention as the show. How would he shuttle between three big film projects including Chennai Express, Bol Bachchan and Golmaal 4?
“I’ve sorted dates in a manner that I can handle all my work comfortably. The Bol Bachchan team is in Mumbai and we should be shooting here now. As for Chennai Express, I just know that I’m doing this film with Shah Rukh Khan and there is a long time to go before it releases,” says Rohit, adding, “Golmaal 4 is something I don’t want to be in a hurry with. I have four scripts for that film. I am toying with so many ideas because I don’t want the fourth film to be a letdown. People expect a lot and I want to deliver exactly what they want: entertainment! In a couple of months, I’ll know which script finally becomes Golmaal 4.”
