After two consecutive blockbusters- Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express- Deepika Padukone is flooded with praises and offers from the industry. Within just six years of her career, the actor takes pride in accepting the title of the reigning queen of Bollywood.

“It is all relative ... it feels great to hear and read about it. In fact, I have been reading a lot of such articles and I feel happy because I have worked damn hard. It has not been an easy journey for me. I often wonder, if I am the reigning queen, where is my crown?!” said the 27-year-old, who was written off by many film critics when she made her debut in Om Shanti Om (OSO) back in 2007.

She added, "I was questioned for my choice of films; people raised fingers at my acting abilities. A very famous film critic wrote me off after my first film ... but unperturbed by all this, I cut that clipping out, framed it, and kept in my room. Today, I look at it and feel proud that even her opinion about me has changed and I get to see that in her articles. I am someone who does not get bogged down by negativity."

Time and again questioned for her choice of roles, Deepika is content with the decisions she has made. “During OSO, Farah (Khan) and Shah Rukh (Khan) were there to guide me but once it got over, I was all on my own. After that, I think scripts have chosen me, as I don’t think I am in capacity to be choosing scripts. I have made some right decisions, some wrong ... but I have learnt my lessons with all. I sign a script straight from the heart ... I listen to the narration and if it feels right, I sign it. People feel my career has taken a different turn after Cocktail ... but I had chosen the film just like others. Some directors have understood me better than others. I am happy with the way things are going.”
