Fresh jodis set to romance, sizzle on silver screen this season
In keeping with the tradition, fresh pairings will continue to rule Bollywood this quarter too.bollywood Updated: Apr 27, 2016 09:52 IST
They are fresh, talented and promising. Many of your favourite actors will be seen romancing each other for the very first time. Keep your fingers crossed for the most anticipated jodi- actors Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone, who are most likely to star in Kabir Khan’s next that will release on Eid next year. Another actor Salman is paired alongside for the first time is actor Anushka Sharma in Sultan. Other pairings in news for their fresh appeal are Shraddha Kapoor- Tiger Shroff (Baaghi) Vaani Kapoor- Ranveer Singh (Befikre), and Sidharth Malhotra- Katrina Kaif (Baar Baar Dekho). That’s not all. Watch out for unusual romance between Shah Rukh Khan- Mahira Khan in Raees and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
“The audience wants something new on the screen. Salman-SRK do very limited films. Shahid, Ranbir, Deepika, Kangana do 2-3 films a year. When actors do limited films, chances of them working together is less. So, there is lot of buzz. Then, you have great storytellers like Aditya Chopra and Kabir Khan, helming these projects. Now, casting is done according to the demand of the script, not like 15 years ago when directors would sign most popular actors together like SRK-Kajol or Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit. That’s why, now, we see new, interesting combinations,” says trade analyst Atul Mohan.
Here’s a look at the upcoming fresh pairings:
Salman Khan- Deepika Padukone/Anushka Sharma
This is one of the most anticipated pairing. There are strong reports about Deepika Padukone being signed opposite Salman Khan in Kabir Khan’s next. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, too, reportedly has his eyes on this pairing for his upcoming project. We know that Salman was on Deepika’s wishlist, the actor can now check it, hopefully twice. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor is currently shooting for Sultan, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, where he will be seen romancing Anushka Sharma.
Vaani Kapoor- Ranveer Singh
The first look of Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor starrer Befikre, where the two are locking lips, has already created a lot of buzz. Rumour has it that the lead couple will indulge in 23 liplocks, and will out do Mallika Sherawat-Himanshu Malik’s 17 kisses in Khwahish (2003). Another talking point about this film is filmmaker Aditya Chopra’s return to the director’s chair, after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008).
Shraddha Kapoor- Tiger Shroff/Farhan Akhtar
Shraddha Kapoor-Tiger Shroff pairing in Baaghi, diected by Sabbir Khan, has a young, fresh appeal. Watch out for some great dancing by the lead pair. “Shraddha is a fantastic dancer. After seeing ABCD 2 and her dance in Sun Sathiya, I really admire her dancing skills,” said Tiger, who impressed us all with his moves in his debut film Heropanti. Shraddha has also bagged a role opposite Farhan Akhtar in Rock On sequel, directed by Shujaat Saudagar.
Shah Rukh Khan- Mahira Khan
Shah Rukh Khan romancing Pakistani actor Mahira Khan in Raees, directed by Rahul Dholakia, is surely something to look forward to. And like most actors, the Humsafar fame star was nervous to share the stage with King Khan. “There I am bossing the boys around on my set and here I am standing with Shah Rukh Khan and thinking ‘Oh my God, what am I going to do now.’ I was shocked and very nervous,” she said in an interview.
Sidharth Malhotra- Katrina Kaif
The fun chemistry between actors Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif is quite evident in the first poster of the Baar Baar Dekho, directed by debutant Nitya Mehra. The love story traces the journey of the protagonists from 18 years of age till they turn 60-year-olds. Talking about the film, Sidharth had earlier said, “It’s a unique concept. In Hollywood, they have all these fictitious films like Bruce Almighty. There are films where the universe gives you an opportunity; it’s in that zone. It has not been done in India recently. Rather, it has not been done here successfully. So we are taking the leap of faith to portray something which is part fiction and part reality.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- Ranbir Kapoor
While older male actors romancing younger female actors is nothing new, vice-versa is something that’s not much tapped upon. Aishwarya Rai opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has us excited already. If that doesn’t enough, Karan Johar is donning the director’s hat after a gap of three years. His last film was Student Of The Year (2012).
Kangana Ranaut- Shahid Kapoor/Saif Ali Khan
Rangoon helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj, starring the trio of Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan is making noise for all the right reasons. It will be interesting to see the love triangle between these actors.
