Actor Jacqueline Fernandez will star in the upcoming Netflix original film, Mrs Serial Killer, which will serve as her digital debut. Jacqueline expressed her excitement about the project on Twitter.

She wrote, “Super stoked to announce my new @NetflixIndia Original film, Mrs. Serial Killer is coming soon. This is going to be fun.” The film will be directed by Sirish Kunder and produced by his wife, Farah Khan. “Just a very excited PSA that @Asli_Jacqueline is officially part of the Netflix fam with Mrs. Serial Killer. Here’s hoping that if we are ever framed for murder, she’s got our back!” Netflix India tweeted on Wednesday, and shared a black and white picture of the actor, wearing a scarf on her head.

Here’s an official synopsis: “When her husband is framed and imprisoned for serial murders, a doting wife must perform a murder exactly like the serial killer, to prove her husband innocent.”

Mrs Serial Killer was a part of a recent announcement by the streaming giant, in which it revealed that it would produce 10 new original titles for India. Others include a horror anthology by Lust Stories directors Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar, and content produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Ronnie Screwvala. Karan will also produce an upcoming film called Guilty through the digital arm of his Dharma Productions.

He said in a statement, “Today a filmmaker with an interesting idea has so many avenues to connect with the audience, and Netflix is definitely one of the most exciting among them. As a content creator, there has never been a better time to tell stories. Guilty is a film that explores a personal, powerful subject where a small-town girl takes on the structures that protect perpetrators of rape. Ruchi Narain is helming the film as a director, and we at Dharmatic, could not be more excited than to see her vision come alive across 190 countries on Netflix.”

Shirish is best known for his critical and commercial flop Joker, which starred Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. Netflix India will soon release the post apocalyptic series Leila and the second season of Sacred Games.
