John Abraham promises kid-friendly Dostana 2
“Dostana 2 will be a universal film. It has to be fun and outrageous, but we’re targeting kids this time, so we definitely plan on making it easier and better. We want them to come watch the film,” says actor John Abraham.bollywood Updated: Jun 22, 2013 18:08 IST
A lot has been spoken about the sequel to Tarun Mansukhani’s 2008 hit, Dostana. The film put John Abraham firmly in the spotlight as a pin-up boy, mainly because of the scene that displayed his derriere. But now, the actor is all set play a tamer role in the sequel to the film.
“Dostana 2 will be a universal film. It has to be fun and outrageous, but we’re targeting kids this time, so we definitely plan on making it easier and better. We want them to come watch the film,” says John. Beyond that brief, however, John doesn’t know much about the new script. “I really don’t know what’s going to happen this time. I wonder what I’m supposed to do in this one,” he says.
While rumours have been doing the rounds that Katrina Kaif or Deepika Padukone will play the leading lady, one of the confirmed lead actors of the film, John says that he has no clue about the part at this point. “I have no idea about the casting. In fact, right now, I’m more concerned about matching mine and Abhishek’s (Bachchan) dates,” he says.
The actor goes on to add that the movie will finally go on the floors towards the end of this year. As per the storyline, this time John and Abhishek will migrate from Miami to Punjab. John says, “We should start shooting for the film around October or November. It’s all quite exciting at the moment. But there’s not much that I know, so it’s best that Karan (Johar, producer) makes the necessary announcements.”
John also adds that around the same time, his own production, Banana, will go on the floors as well. “It’s a fresh film with a young cast. We plan to begin shooting in October. It’s being directed by Sajid Ali (director Imtiaz Ali’s younger brother) and is a relatively small budget film, made at roughly Rs 3 crore,” he says.
