Actor Kartik Aaryan has come a long way in his seven-year-old career, which he started off with Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011). After playing a ‘frustrated in love’ guy, he did a serious film Akaash Vaani (2013) but followed it up with the sequel to PKP in 2015.

His monologues in the PKP series have attained cult status, finding acceptability among the audience, especially guys. In his latest film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, he is out to ‘protect’ his friend from a girl he thinks is not right for him. But doing films centred on relationships has led to him being deemed as a ‘love expert’.

Kartik reveals, “People think that I have figured it all out, at a young age, about love. With the kind of films that I have done and the characters I have played, I am creating a niche for myself. It’s a niche which is of a different kind. Jis disha mein main jaa raha hoon, cheezein apne aap hoti jaa rahi hain (The way I am going, things are falling into place themselves). Though I am doing only one type of film [genre], people are relating to them. They even think ‘main bhi Gogo hoon’, ‘main bhi Sonu hoon’. All my characters have been relatable.”

He adds that he is regularly asked for relationship advice. “A lot of my friends ask me for advice. Fans ke bhi message aate hain. I don’t know what to say to them! I haven’t figured out anything, it’s just my character which does everything. It’s really funny when people walk up to me and ask me stuff about this!” laughs Kartik.
