Nutan: Google celebrates her 81st birthday with a doodle

Bollywood actor Nutan, best known for her work in Bandini and Sujata, would have been 81 on Sunday, had she been alive. Google celebrates her birth anniversary with a doodle dedicated to her.

Sunday is the 81st birth anniversary of Bollywood actor Nutan.

Sunday marks the 81st birth anniversary of yesteryear Bollywood actor Nutan and search engine Google is paying tribute to the Bandini star with a beautiful doodle.

In a the doodle, small faces of Nutan capturing various emotions - happy, sad, and dramatic - form the two “O” of Google.

Born to film actress Shobhna Samarth and filmmaker Kumarsen Samarth as Nutan Samarth in 1936, she went on to work in more than 70 Hindi films in a career spanning over 40 years .Till 2011, she was the only female actor to hold five Filmfare Best Actress awards.

Nutan was married to Rajnish Bahl and died young at 54 after suffering from breast cancer. Her son Mohnish Bahl is a film and TV actor and grand daughter Pranutan Bahl plans to join the industry soon. Actress Rattan Bai was her grandmom.

Apart from working in several commercially successful films like Anari, Karma and Naam, Nutan was also applauded for her skills in critically-acclaimed movies including Bimal Roy’s Bandini and Sujata. She won the awards for Seema, Milan, Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki along with Bandini and Sujata.

Nutan was honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour, in 1974.
