Rajkumar Gupta’s next to be released as a book of fiction
The filmmaker who, along with writer Pervez Sheikh, has written the screenplay of the Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan starrer, intends on turning his film into a novel — a regular fiction book as opposed to a graphic novel.
Previously, Bollywood films like RA.One (2011), Agent Vinod and Shanghai have been made into graphic novels that have worked well to promote their respective films. Now, Rajkumar Gupta plans to do something similar for his next film, Ghanchakkar.The filmmaker who, along with writer Pervez Sheikh, has written the screenplay of the Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan starrer, intends on turning his film into a novel — a regular fiction book as opposed to a graphic novel.
A source says, “Gupta and Sheikh have worked a lot on the script and the screenplay of the movie. Ghanchakkar, which is a comic thriller, has a lot of fun elements, and the makers (UTV Motion Pictures) thought that it would make for a fun read. So as soon as UTV and Gupta agreed upon the idea, they decided to waste no time and started working on making the movie into a novel.” Apparently, Gupta and Pervez have already planned a few things that they want to have in the book.
The source says, “They plan on modifying the screenplay of the film to make it into a novel. They will be adding a lot more fun elements to the book.” And when will it release? The source says, “The makers are currently in talks with a few publishers for the book. The idea has got a great response, but they’re trying to figure out some monetary issues. They want to release the book the same weekend that the film hits theatres, which will be around mid 2013.”
The source adds, “Talks are on about shooting a special cover with Vidya and Emraan for the book as well. Vidya plays a sexy housewife in the film and hopefully the cover will look very interesting.”
