Ranbir Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali set to return to Delhi for next film

They shot in Delhi for their hit collaboration, Rockstar (2011), and now after three years, actor Ranbir Kapoor and film-maker Imtiaz Ali are all set to travel to the national capital yet again for their new venture, tentatively titled Tamasha.

The film, also starring Deepika Padukone, will be shot in different parts of Delhi over a three-month schedule starting in January, 2015.

"Delhi has always been very special to Imtiaz. That’s why some parts of almost all his films have been shot in and around the capital. For his new film, too, he will shoot in Delhi for over 90 days," says an insider.

Imtiaz has a special connection with Delhi as he used to live there before he moved to Mumbai to become a director. During his time there, he even started a theatre group called Ibtida in Hindu College, where he studied.

While Rockstar was shot at various locations in Delhi including Kotla Mubarakpur, Nizamuddin Dargah, Greater Kailash, Munirka, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Connaught Place, Shri Ram College of Commerce, St Stephen’s College and Hindu College, the director is yet to reveal where he plans to shoot portions of the new film.

Till now, Imtiaz has shot for about 20 days for this film in Corsica, France. "A major part of the film will be shot in the Delhi schedule. By then, Deepika would have finished working on Shoojit’s (Sircar) film Piku, and Ranbir will have finished most of his work on his Anurag Basu's sleuth film Jagga Jasoos that also stars Katrina Kaif. That film has over two months of work left," adds the insider.

Despite repeated attempts, neither Imtiaz nor the film’s producer Sajid Nadiadwala could be reached for comments.
