Ranbir’s ex to romance Salman Khan?

Half-Indian, half-Icelandic Angela Jonsson who was linked with Ranbir Kapoor sometime back, is the frontrunner for the female lead’s part in Salman Khan’s jungle-adventure, Sher Khan, reports Prashant Singh.

If all goes well, model Angela Jonsson may soon be seen starring opposite Salman Khan in his brother Sohail Khan’s upcoming film, Sher Khan. His production house is in talks with the model. “But it’s unlikely that anyone will comment at this stage since everyone is waiting for Salman to return to the country,” says a source from the production.

Currently, the actor is, of course, recuperating in the US from the surgery he underwent for his nerve disorder. Sohail, who is with Salman in America, along with brother Arbaaz and sister Alvira, remained unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.

Sources close to the Khans confirmed that Angela is the frontrunner for this much-coveted part. When contacted, Atul Kasbekar of Bling! Entertainment Solutions, which manages Angela’s work didn’t deny the news. He says, “It’s too premature to discuss it right now. As per company policy, I can’t comment.” The half-Indian, half-Icelandic model, who won the Kingfisher Calendar Hunt earlier this year, had auditioned at Yash Raj Films a few months ago. The grapevine also suggests that she was considered for a part in Dhoom 3.

Meanwhile, industry insiders insist that Salman is looking for a fresh face for Sher Khan. He is apparently impressed with Angela. Sources add Nargis Fakhri, who is set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the upcoming film Rockstar, was also considered for the part. However, Nargis is believed to be contractually bound by the makers of Rockstar, and therefore is not allowed to sign her second project until Imtiaz Ali’s film releases this November. And buzz is that Sohail wants to finalise the leading lady for his film by then, as the film is expected to go on floors by early next year. The film, which will see Salman play a ‘superhero’, is apparently also an intense love story.

Interestingly, Angela has admitted to “having dated” Ranbir as well. And during the release of Ranbir’s Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani (2009), the Kapoor scion, in turn, was rumoured to have become close to Salman’s ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif.
