It is an open secret that Imran Khan is set to star in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s first love story, Milan Talkies. And although speculation has been rife about the female lead in the film for a while, the latest news is that Sonakshi Sinha has bagged the part in Ekta Kapoor’s production. “Ekta has been impressed with Sonakshi since Dabangg (2010). That’s why she was more than happy to rope her in for Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2 (OUATIM 2) as well. As for Milan Talkies, she feels Sonakshi fits the bill of a small town girl

perfectly. Her pairing with Imran is also fresh,” says an industry insider.

When we asked about Milan Talkies, Sonakshi refused to comment: “I can’t say anything.”

Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures says, “We haven’t decided on who our lead actress will be. Once Tigmanshu is back after wrapping up Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 2, we will take the final call.”

Our insider adds, “The makers aren’t keen to reveal everything at this stage because they want to make a grand announcement later. But Sonakshi has been confirmed for the film. In fact, she has already worked out her dates for Milan Talkies as well. After wrapping up OUATIM 2, she will start preparing for her role in Tigmanshu’s film.”

The film will go on the floors early next year. By then, Imran will have wrapped up Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and OUATIM 2, which sees Akshay Kumar in the lead. According to Tigmanshu, Milan Talkies revolves around one primary sentiment — “though communication has become easy thanks to mobile phones, it’s still difficult to fall in love in small towns.”
