"I know today it's all about 200 and 250 crores but The Lunchbox is not a typical commercial film. The film has a universal appeal and will have wider audience. It's a very unusual film," Rangachari told IANS. He says the film was made on a medium budget. The Lunchbox, starring Irrfan Khan is not a typical commercial film but will surprise everyone. "Its not a very high budget film and I am not allowed to reveal the budget right now. But all I can say is the film was made on a medium scale, its not an expensive film. We did the post production in Germany and France and editing in New York," he said.

Rangachari has also produced Irrfan's recent film, D Day, and says he is a wonderful actor and they are looking at a long term association with him. "Needless to say he is a wonderful actor, we hope to do many more films with him," he said.

Directed by Ritesh Batra, The Lunchbox also stars Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui among others.
