Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga has piqued the interest of the audience with its trailer, songs and the featurettes that the team has released so far. From training to be tailors for the movie to working on their looks, Varun and Anushka have shared how they transformed into their characters for this film. The most recent featurette to be released is about Varun’s transformation into his character, the mild-mannered Mauji. The actor explains that they finalised his wardrobe - double-pleated formal pants and sleeveless sweater - because of director Sharat Katariya’s love for Mithun Chakraborty.
Also, look-wise this is the first film in which Varun sports a moustache. He said that trying out fake moustaches was ‘weird’. “We tried so many varieties of moustaches, including the handlebar style, and it was just weird. So I ended up growing a real one for the character and Sharat really liked it,” said Varun.
Varun plays the role of the tailor Mauji, a man who is encouraged by his wife Mamta, played by Anushka Sharma, to do something meaningful in his life. He then finds that he has a talent for sewing, and the couple then open up a small business. Sui Dhaaga is about their journey and how they navigate the troubles that rise out of opening up a business.
The film is produced by Yash Raj Film and is slated to release on September 28.
