Want to become irreplaceable and invincible in a show: Rubina Dilaik

Actor Rubina Dilaik believes in picking a role, giving her best and then just moving with the flow. Currently, playing the protagonist in a daily soap where she portrays the role of a transgender, the actor has received much praise for trying something as unique and challenging as this. The actor however asserts that she never had expectations about how her on-screen characters would be received.
“You can’t always assume that your role would be something magnanimous. It’s not pre-decided. I strongly believe that an actor breathes life in a character and how honestly and differently you are doing that job is what matters in the end. You should become irreplaceable. ?This invincibility of you as an actor in that character determines the fate of the show and your role,” she says.
“I make it a point that whatever is being offered to me, I should be able to do it, to the best of my abilities.”
On the kind of scripts and roles she likes to choose, Rubina is sorted and doesn’t like to be called a method actor. “I’m an actor who reacts to the situation. I do my homework and go through my script. I study the character well and sit with the creative team to understand how it’s being designed and sketched,” she adds.
Rubina further feels that her input to the character should add value to it. “ I keep polishing my characters. I make it a point that whatever is being offered to me, I should be able to do it, to the best of my abilities.”
