The makers of Udta Punjab released a new song on Wednesday, Ik Kudi, featuring Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh. The song, an adapted version of late Shiv Kumar Batalvi’s poem by the same name, has been sung by Diljit.

Amit Trivedi has composed the song that shows Alia, who plays an aspiring hockey player in the film, hitchhiking her way to a training centre and starting her journey in the game.

Prepping fans for the song release, Shahid Kapoor, who plays a rockstar in the film, had shared a small video on his Instagram page.
Directed by Abhishek Choubey, Udta Punjab deals with the problem of drug addiction among Punjab’s youth. Kareena Kapoor plays a doctor in the film and Alia is a Bihari migrant who has to give up on her dream of playing hockey after her father’s death. Diljit, who makes his Bollywood debut with the film, plays a cop.

Presented by Balaji Motion pictures and produced by Phantom Pictures, Udta Punjab is set to hit theaters on June 17.
Diljit has popular numbers like Proper Patola, Tung Tung Baje, Pagg Wala Munda, Patiala Peg to his credit .

Talking about the song Diljit said in a statement, “I was extremely glad to know that Shri Shiv Kumar Batalvi’s poem Ikk Kudi would be featured in my debut Hindi film. And more that I am so excited and happy that I got to sing it. It was really an experience which will always be special for me. I hope people like the song as much as I do.”
