Madhuri Dixit channelled Madhubala in a performance on Dance Deewane.

A few days after teasing her fans with a still image of herself channelling the iconic Madhubala in a recreation of her famous song from Mughal-e-Azam, Mohe Panghat Pe Nandlal, a video of Mahuri Dixit actually performing the song has been shared online.

A Madhuri fan account shared the video of Madhuri, who performed the song on Dance Deewane, a reality show she is currently judging with Tushar Kalia and Shashank Khaitan. Madhuri is seen wearing the same orange and silver embroidered lehenga and maroon coloured choli from the still that she had shared previously. The outfit harkens back to Madhubala’s costume from the legendary Bollywood epic.

Makeup artist Mickey Contractor also shared a black-and-white picture of Madhuri in the Mughal-e-Azam get up and wrote: “The gorgeous, gorgeous Madhuri Dixit for Dance Deewane in a retro avatar.”

In the said song, a coy yet flirty Madhubala as Anarkali is singing for Salim (Dilip Kumar) even as the rest of the court is under the impression that she is merely re-enacting Radha’s playful interaction with Krishna. The song has acquired an extra edge over time as Madhubala and Dilip Kumar had been one-time real-life lovers.

Madhuri has two big budget, high profile films in her kitty. These include Kalank, a Karan Johar production with an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan among others and Total Dhamaal, with Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Esha Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaffrey.
