Book Review: A Dan Brown-esque adventure with Vineet Bajpai’s thriller Harappa
Harappa: Curse of Blood River by author Vineet Bajpai is a historical thriller with a narrative that ties various elements and travels across time.
With the plot tied to different regions — Banaras, Harappa and Rome, this book unfolds an ancient mystery that confluences Indian history and mythology. But, we’d suggest you look beyond the cover with this one since it promises to surprise.

Lending a true Dan Brown-esque vibe, author Vineet Bajpai weaves a gripping narrative that takes protagonist Vidyut on a journey that the reader will thoroughly enjoy. How Bajpai introduces a myriad elements and yet manages to keep them together is brilliant and the writing makes it a simple yet unputdownable experience for the reader.
One might also spot qualities of Amish Tripathi and Ashwin Sanghi’s writing in this book, which when coupled with the author’s own unique style, makes a cracker of a plot!
However, there are a few points in this read that will make you go back and forth to truly understand what is happening. Writing about the present seems like an easy task but how Bajpai packs a hearty dose of Harappa is what gives the book more value.
We wouldn’t talk much about the details of the story since that could prove to be a spoiler. But, if you love a good thriller, have interest in history or are a fan of Dan Brown style, this one might just become your latest favourite.
