If in Trainspotting, the Scottish writer marked his spot by writing about a drink'n'drugs-ridden gritty Edinburgh netherland, then the forthcoming prequel of that landmark 1993 novel — from which he read out a portion on sex with the disabled in Jaipur — will shake us up from literary and existential torpor.
