Airtel launches 'My Account' portal for pre-paid customers

Airtel has launched a 'My Account' service where the pre-paid customers can log in and view details about their phone number. Not just that, but the they can also view an itemized listing of the all the charges made on their number, a privilege that had been reserved only for the post-paid subscribers, till date.

TRAI seems to have gotten a good hang of what the telco customers need, and have the history of coming up with quite a few positive changes. One of the latest ones is its ruling that all telecom operators shall have to provide details of active tariff plans, credit balance and details of the value added services activated on a connection, at any time, free of charge.

Moving on those lines, Airtel has launched a 'My Account' service where the pre-paid customers can log in and view details about their phone number. Not just that, but the they can also view an itemized listing of the all the charges made on their number, a privilege that had been reserved only for the post-paid subscribers, till date. Additionally, with a token payment of Rs 50, the subscribers can ask for the same bill to be despatched on his/her own postal address.

There have been numerous subscribers who have complained about random credit deductions from their accounts, in the last couple of years, which have finally prompted TRAI to pass a ruling of this nature. Nevertheless, it is nice to see Airtel moving the fastest with the implementation.

Now, if only TRAI could make all the incoming calls free on roaming. That's the ultimate respite all subscribers are looking for, I am sure, other than making all calling free altogether.
