Convergys India, the Indian arm of US-based Convergys Corp, is likely to see flat or lower single digit revenue growth this year as the economic recession in the West is impacting its business.
“It is a confusing environment and clients are hesitant of making quick decisions. We expect a flat or low single digit growth by the end of December 2009 from over 10 per cent growth rate we were at till 18 months back,” said Sukant Srivastava, managing director and country manager, Convergys India. He did not quantify India’s contribution to Convergys Corp’s $2.8 billion revenues.
Convergys is trimming down costs through measures like reducing average call time, controlling employee absenteeism and minimising wastage of office transport amongst others.
Salary increases are likely to be subdued or in lower single digits for voice agents (billable employees who attend customer calls and who are a source of revenue for the company) while for the rest, performance review has been delayed by a quarter.
The company employs 12,000 people on its rolls in India and has tightened recruitment process for non-billable positions. However, the company, at present, has no plans to downsize its staff.
