Children's animation character 'Doraemon' would now be available in merchandise and revenue of USD 3 million from sales was expected in three years, Kids Media India CEO Rajiv Sangari said.
Kids Media India and Hong Kong-based Animation International, licensor of Doraemon, today announced the licensing and merchandising of the cartoon character in India.
Kids Media India, a subsidiary of Dubai-based SpaceToon Media, is in talks with various parties for merchandising and licensing of Doraemon, a Japanese cartoon character, the company CEO Rajiv Sangari told reporters here.
2,000 Doraemon products were sold in Asia and the company planned to launch goods from apparel to footwear of Doraemon, he said.
By launching Doraemon products, Kids Media is targetting the 370 million children in the country, Sangari said.
"Initially, we would launch the products in eight cities. We are targetting a turnover of USD 3 million in three years," he said. There is a "minimum guarantee and revenue sharing" between Kids Media and Animation International, Sangari said.
The company plans to launch a children's channel by the end of the year, he informed.
