The government is likely to announce the change in fuel prices during the GoM meet on Thursday.
Petroleum Secretary MS Srinivasan said a change on fuel prices was likely after the GoM meet later during the day.
"There is a possibility of a change," he told reporters ahead of the GoM meet this afternoon.
He said the ministry has sought duty rationalisation to contain the impact of surging crude oil prices.
The Group of Ministers' recommendation will be betted by the Cabinet. "The cabinet may meet in a day or two depending on the urgency for a decision," he said.
