Harbin to start up in India

Chinese power equipment major, Harbin Power has decided to set up power equipment manufacturing facilities in India. The company is exploring locations, Ge Xin, vice chief engineer and general manager (marketing), Harbin Power said, reports Anupama Airy.

Chinese power equipment major, Harbin Power has decided to set up power equipment manufacturing facilities in India. The company is exploring locations, Ge Xin, vice chief engineer and general manager (marketing), Harbin Power said.

“We are going to meet the Tamil Nadu government authorities on Thursday for a possible location for setting up our manufacturing facilities in the state,” Xin said. “The plans are to first set up a service shop which will later be followed by manufacturing facilities.”

Harbin Power Engineering is one of the major equipment suppliers for thermal, hydro and combined cycle power plants in India and has already supplied 10 units of 600 mega watt power equipment sets for various power projects in the country. The other two big power equipment players from China, which are reaping huge business from India are Shanghai Electric Corporation and Dongfang.
