Hindi dailies hit 15 mn mark in circulation

The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) on Wednesday released the circulation figures for the period of July–December, 2012. Average certified copies of Hindi language dailies was over 15 million and together with weekly newspapers and magazines it was over 17 million.

The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) on Wednesday released the circulation figures for the period of July–December, 2012. Average certified copies of Hindi language dailies was over 15 million and together with weekly newspapers and magazines it was over 17 million.

For English dailies, the average certified copies was over 9 million, for Malayalam dailies it was over 4 million and for Marathi dailies it was over 5.4 million.

The Audit Bureau of Circulations has changed the system of appointing auditors to audit circulation figures of member publications with effect from audit period January to June 2013.

Previously, publisher members had the choice of selecting any audit firm from amongst the empanelled auditors.

ABC is a tripartite organisation, which since 1948 certifies circulation figures twice a year for the benefit of print media industry, advertising agencies, advertisers and government agencies.

A not-for-profit organisation, it has been regularly publishing audited circulation figures for the last 65 years every six months providing an insight into the circulation number of the print media industry.
